Development of an Fe2+ sensing system based on the inner filter effect between upconverting nanoparticles and ferrozine

Addition of Fe2+ to a solution of ferrozine and Er3+-doped upconverting nanoparticles induces a clear yellow to purple colour change, and excitation at 980 nm causes a decrease in the intensity of the green upconversion visible emission band.

Tailored efficient energy transfer Tb3+, Eu3+ activated/co-activated LiAl(PO3)4 phosphor by substitution of alkali metals: the effect of charge compensation

The studied phosphor LiAl(PO3)4: x mol% Tb3+, y mol% Eu3+, z mol% R+ (R = Na, K) shows excellent photoluminescence properties with efficient energy transfer from Tb3+ to Eu3+, enhancement in intensity using charge compensation and show the photochromic nature.

Tm3+; Yb3+:Zn2TiO4 near infrared to blue upconversion phosphors for anti-counterfeit applications

The upconversion (UC) emission spectra recorded by using 980 nm laser of the prepared phosphors. The excitation wavelength shows intense blue colour. The anti-counterfeit application of the prepared sample demonstrated.

Multicolor tunable bright photoluminescence in Ca2+/Mg2+ modified Eu3+ doped ZnGa2O4 phosphors under UV excitation for solid state lighting applications

Synthesis and photoluminescent characterization of ceramic phosphors Li2MgGeO4:Ln3+ (Ln3+ = Pr3+ or Tm3+) under different excitation wavelengths

Luminescence properties of Li2MgGeO4:Ln3+ (Ln = Pr, Tm) depend significantly on the excitation wavelengths. Several emission bands are observed, which can be assigned to ceramic matrix and characteristic transitions of Pr3+ and Tm3+ ions.

Effect of Cr3+ doping on structural and optical properties of Eu3+ doped LaVO4 phosphor

The Eu3+, Cr3+ co-doped LaVO4 phosphor gives red (614 nm) and NIR (700 nm) emissions due to Eu3+ and Cr3+ ions, respectively. The decrease in PL intensity of the Eu3+ doped LaVO4 phosphor is due to energy transfer from Eu3+ to Cr3+ ions.

About this collection

The aim of this collection is to focus on the synthesis, as well as the structural and optical properties, of different types of lanthanide-doped phosphor materials, such as phosphors, nano-phosphors and phosphor composites. This collection welcomes primary research articles as well as review articles, related to the synthesis, characterization and applications of different types of the lanthanide-doped phosphor materials.

This collection is Guest Edited by Dr Ram Sagar Yadav (Banaras Hindu University), Prof. Bryce S. Richards (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology), Professor Joanna Pisarska (University of Silesia) and Professor Xinyu Ye (JiangXi University of Science and Technology)
