An excellent cryogenic magnetic cooler: magnetic and magnetocaloric study of an inorganic frame material

We report the crystal structure, magnetic susceptibility and isothermal magnetization of inorganic frame material Gd(OH)SO4 (1). The maximum entropy changes for 1 at high field (7 T) and low fields (smaller than 3 T) were comparable to commercial gadolinium gallium garnet Gd3Ga5O12.
