Preparation, characterization, and thermal properties of novel fire-resistant microencapsulated phase change materials based on paraffin and a polystyrene shell

Flame retardancy properties of paraffin-based microcapsules were enhanced using halogen-free fire retardants. The reducing on the heat of combustion, and improving on noncombustibility properties and microencapsulation ratio were achieved.

In situ reduction of chloroauric acid (HAuCl4) for generation of catalytic Au nanoparticle embedded triazine based covalent organic polymer networks

A facile synthetic route was applied to generate Au@COPN-1 hybrids via in situ reduction of Au3+ with no additional reducing agent. Au@COPN-1 is a promising catalyst platform and good biocompatibility confirmed by dynamic real-time cell analysis.

Concise synthesis of 3-alkylthieno[3,2-b]thiophenes; building blocks for organic electronic and optoelectronic materials

Four step synthesis of 3-alkylthieno[3,2-b]thiophenes in the literature was reduced to two steps in good yields, through the preparation of the mono ketone, i.e. 1-(thiophene-3-ylthio)alkan-2-one, from 3-bromothiophene and ring formation reaction.

Removal of chromium(VI) from polluted wastewater by chemical modification of silica gel with 4-acetyl-3-hydroxyaniline

Enhanced antitumor activity of carbendazim on HeLa cervical cancer cells by aptamer mediated controlled release

Carbendazim doped and aptamer-gate functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles targeted nucleolin on HeLa cell surface for specific delivery. This delivery system improved antitumor activity of carbendazim by about 3 folds increase of EC50 values.

About this collection

We are pleased to present a collection celebrating recent achievements in chemical science in Turkey. Guest edited by Fabienne Dumoulin (Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University) and Suna Timur (Ege University), the collection features articles published in RSC Advances over the period 2018-2020 with at least one corresponding author being affiliated in Turkey. The article selection matches many of the topics listed as national priorities (energy, environment and health) in their whole diversity, and reflects the dynamics of research teams.
