Non-stoichiometry and electrochemical properties of lithiated iron hydroxysulfides

We studied the electrochemical lithium intercalation in LiOHFeS. After a first irreversible reaction the resulting new material reversibly cycles one lithium atom involving the Fe3+/Fe2+ redox couple: Li2FeOS ↔ Li+ + e + LiFeOS.

Hyperfine couplings between the paramagnetic moment and nuclei in the metallic phase of low silica X zeolite loaded with potassium

Hyperfine coupling constants with the paramagnetic moment have been estimated for 23Na and 27Al in the metallic phase of the Na-K form of the low silica X (LSX) zeolite loaded with a saturating amount of potassium, 9.0 atoms per supercage.

About this collection

Intercalation materials attract the interest of a large community of researchers working on organic, inorganic and hybrid compounds, either natural or synthetic.  Such intercalation chemistry cannot be dissociated from the study of the synthesis, structure, chemical and physical properties of the so-obtained intercalation materials. Novel synthesis methods are under development for the preparation of original intercalated phases. With the recent scientific development, huge progresses are also realized concerning the characterization of these materials. These intercalation compounds clearly exhibit advantages and perspectives that can be involved in numerous applications such as catalysis, energy, environment, health, engineering, biomaterials, coatings, composites as polymer filler, and water remediation.

This collection, guest edited by Prof. Chiara Bisio (Università del Piemonte Orientale), Dr. Sébastien Cahen (University of Lorraine) and Prof. Fabrice Leroux (Université Clermont Auvergne), includes the most recent and significant contributions on intercalation compounds, with particular emphasis on intercalation mechanisms, synthesis methods, host-guest interactions, and structure/property relationships determined by experimental and theoretical techniques.
