Biohybrid plants with electronic roots via in vivo polymerization of conjugated oligomers

Conjugated oligomers polymerize in vivo on the root system of intact plants forming an extended network of tissue integrated conductors while the plants continue to grow and develop. The conducting roots are used to store energy in the plant.

Electronic transport descriptors for the rapid screening of thermoelectric materials

We use efficient first principles calculation of carrier scattering times to derive transport descriptors for mobility and thermoelectric powerfactor. Low carrier mass and high dielectric constant are critical, validated on promising ABX2 compounds.

A regioregular donor–acceptor copolymer allowing a high gain–bandwidth product to be obtained in photomultiplication-type organic photodiodes

A newly synthesized regioregular donor polymer is used in photomultiplication-type organic photodiodes (PM-OPDs), and its regioregularity enables face-on orientation with a low trap density, leading to a high gain and fast response time in PM-OPDs.
