Blue-light hydrogen production via CdS/g-C3N4 heterojunctions

The synergistic effects of CdS/g-C3N4 heterojunctions were clearly demonstrated by reduced radiative recombination with a consistently high hydrogen evolution rate over four cycles under blue light irradiation.

Reactivity of trinuclear ruthenium acetates with nitrite and nitric oxide ligands in aqueous media

The interconversion equilibrium of coordinated NO to NO2 has been described for trinuclear ruthenium acetates for the first time. The compounds are capable to release NO in aqueous media by means of light stimulation and pH changes.

A bentonite/ZIF-8 derived ZnO photocatalyst for the effective elimination of a mixture of endocrine disruptors under simulated solar light: estrogenicity mitigation

A bentonite/ZIF-8 derived ZnO composite demonstrated enhanced photocatalytic performance in degrading a mixture of endocrine disruptors, achieving 61.26% mineralization and resulting in a non-estrogenic effluent.

Probing the interactions in graphene oxide/MoS2 and reduced graphene oxide/MoS2 nanoarchitectures using multimodal scanning probe microscopy

A set of SPM techniques helped in identifying different interactions between 2D/2D nanoarchitected thin films (GO/MoS2 and rGO/MoS2). Notably, the incorporation of MoS2 led to several alterations in the properties of neat GO or rGO films.

A redefinition of global conceptual density functional theory reactivity indexes by means of the cubic expansions of the energy

Conceptual DFT reactivity indexes are redefined in terms of a cubic interpolation of the energy as function of the number of electrons (Ne).

Potential dependent degradation of spinel LiMn2O4 (LMO) and related structures assessed via manganese- and oxygen-sensitive scanning electrochemical microscopy

Small electrodes capable of detecting Mn dissolution and oxygen evolution are placed near operating Mn-based lithium-ion battery cathodes to track their degradation, informing on mechanism and revealing how additives might help decrease degradation.

About this collection

The Royal Society of Chemistry is delighted to support #LatinXChem, a virtual forum through which Latin American chemists can share and discuss their research results.

As part of the partnership with this event, we’re bringing together this cross-journal collection, guest edited by Gabriel Merino (Centro de Investigacion y de Estudios Avanzados Merida, Mexico), Juliana Vidal (Beyond Benign, USA), Aldo J.G. Zarbin (Universidade Federal do Paraná, Brazil), Galo J. A. A. Soler-Illia (Universidad Nacional de San Martín, Argentina) and Laura Hinojosa-Reyes (Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, Mexico).

Please join us in celebrating the quality and breadth of Latin American research from across the chemical sciences!

More articles will be added as they are published.
