Evaluating the chemical exfoliation of lithium cobalt oxide using UV-Vis spectroscopy

The exfoliation yield of protonated lithium cobalt oxide was quantified with ultraviolet-vis spectroscopy. An in-depth analysis using this method confirmed and discovered many key aspects of its soft-chemical exfoliation.

Femtosecond laser assisted formation of ultrafine-grained Si NPs with a high density of defects. This can correlate with significant thermal stresses on primary NPs, fast cooling of ejected liquid droplets and incomplete ripening processes.

Enhanced avidin binding to lipid bilayers using PDP-PE lipids with PEG-biotin linkers

We have shown using SEEC microscopy that avidin addition to Biotinyl-Cap-PE lipids forms clusters, reducing the levels of association. By using PDP-PE lipids with PEG linkers, we have achieved much higher avidin levels with no clustering effects.

Preference for low-coordination sites by adsorbed CO on small platinum nanoparticles

Successfully synthesized PVP stabilized Pt NPs from 1.4 to 4.8 nm. Two new bands at 2021 cm−1 and 1994 cm−1 were observed in the FTIR spectra of adsorbed 12CO on Pt NPs which are assigned to the edge and corner sites at Pt surface respectively.
