Optimizing the electronic configuration of h-BN for boosting the photocatalytic transformation of acid gases under visible light

The incorporation of heteroatomic carbon optimizes the electronic configuration of boron nitride (BN) to enhance its performance in photocatalytic elimination of acidic gases.

Surface etching to tune the behaviours of photogenerated charges on a decahedron BiVO4 crystal for efficient photocatalysis

The {010} facets of the decahedron BiVO4 were selectively etched using sodium hydroxide solution, while keeping the {110} facets intact. This caused a reversal in the distribution of photogenerated electrons and holes.

Study of the different morphologies of Zn0.5Cd0.5S for photocatalytic H2 production

As catalytic reactions usually occur on the surface of a catalyst, regulating the catalyst morphology may largely affect the photocatalytic properties.

Crystal phase engineering SiC nanosheets for enhancing photocatalytic CO2 reduction

PVP promotes 2H phase SiC generation on 3C-SiC nanosheets to form 2H–3C SiC heterophase junction. The tight interface of 2H–3C phase facilitates the separation of charge carriers, and enhances the photocatalytic reduction of CO2.

About this collection

Despite decades of development, photocatalytic technology still has many key scientific problems to solve, including the bottleneck of large-scale application in environmental pollution control, the utilisation efficiency of sunlight, the selectivity of products in photosynthesis and so on. The work in this collection seeks to address some of these challenges.
