Associations of dietary factors and xenobiotic intake with faecal microbiota composition according to the presence of intestinal mucosa damage

Diet is a major modulator of gut microbiota, which plays a key role in the health status, including colorectal cancer (CRC) development.

Wild blueberry (V. angustifolium) improves TNFα-induced cell barrier permeability through claudin-1 and oxidative stress modulation in Caco-2 cells

Dietary doses of wild blueberry, rich in bioactive components such as polyphenols, may contribute to support the integrity of the intestinal barrier by preserving claudin-1 expression and reducing markers of oxidative stress.

Metabolism disturbance by light/dark cycle switching depends on the rat health status: the role of grape seed flavanols

Changes in light/dark cycles and obesogenic diets are related to metabolic disorders.

A systematic review of the inhibitory effect of extracts from edible parts of nuts on α-glucosidase activity

Inhibition of α-glucosidases can slow carbohydrate digestion to reduce postprandial glycaemia and lower risk of type 2 diabetes. Our systematic review found no studies that tested the inhibitory potential of nut extracts against human α-glucosidases.

Inter-individual characteristics on basic taste recognition thresholds in a college-aged cohort: potential predictive factors

Studying nutritional status from the perspective of taste sensitivity, rather than only dietary patterns, may provide new insights into the physiological implications of the gustatory function and predictors of taste sensitivity.
