Novel di-isopropylamino derivatives of trivalent phosphorus

Abstract

Reduction of (Pri2N)2PCl with LiAIH4 in diethyl ether gives (Pri2N)2,PH; reaction of Pri2NPCl2, with Mg in boiling tetrahydrofuran gives either the cyclotetraphosphine (Pri2N)4P4 or the 1,2-dichlorobiphosphine Pri2NP(Cl)–P(Cl)NPri2 depending upon the Mg:Pri2NPCl2 mole ratio.
