The quenching of aromatic hydrocarbon fluorescence by α,ω-diaminoalkanes and the formation of excited ternary complexes
Abstract
The quenching of the fluorescence of aromatic hydrocarbons in cyclohexane by NNN′N′-tetra-alkyl-α,ω-diaminoalkanes is extremely efficient and is dependent on chain length; in certain cases fluorescent ternary complexes are formed and in the case of (1) a truly intramolecular excited ternary complex is produced.
