Activation of terminal alkynes with cis-[RuCl2(Ph2PCH2PPH2)2]: new vinylidene– and acetylide–ruthenium complexes and crystal structures of [(Ph2PCH2PPH2)2(Cl)Ru

CH2]PF6 and [(Ph2PCH2PPH2)2(Cl)RuC
CH] complexes
Abstract
The activation of alkynes HC
CR with cis-[RuCl2(Ph2PCH2PPh2)2]1 leads to vinylidenes trans-[(Ph2PCH2PPh2)2(Cl)Ru+
C
CHR], even directly from acetylene itself (R = H) or prop-2-ynyl alcohol, from which the Ru+
C
CH(CH2OH) moiety is resistant to dehydration, and deprotonation with 1,8-diazabicyclo[5.4.0]undec-7-ene (DBU) directly affords trans-[(Ph2PCH2PPh2)2(Cl)Ru–C
C–R] derivatives.
