New, chiral silylated organophosphorus(III) reagents: syntheses and applications in the asymmetric phosphorylation of aldehydes

Abstract

The new silylated organophosphorus(III) compounds, (1R,2S)-(O,N-ephedrine)POSiR3(R3= Ph3, ButMe2, Et3) have been synthesised and shown to react with benzaldehyde to afford the phosphonate esters (1R,2S)-(O,N-ephedrine)P([double bond, length as m-dash]O)CHPh(OSiR3) with good stereoselectivity.
