The reaction of bis(dimethylglyoximato)(pyridine)cobalt(I) anion with CF2=CFX (X[double bond, length half m-dash]Cl or Br): evidence for competitive reaction paths

Abstract

The course of reaction of the ‘supernucleophile’[pyCo(DH)2]-(py[double bond, length half m-dash]pyridine, DH[double bond, length half m-dash]dimethylglyoximato) with CF2=CFX depends upon the nature of X to give [pyCo(DH)2(CF2CFCIH)](X[double bond, length half m-dash]Cl) and [pyCo(DH)2(CF[double bond, length half m-dash]CF2)](X[double bond, length half m-dash]Br) as the major isolated products.
