Organoimido complexes of tungsten(IV) containing σ- and π-bound acetylenes. The X-ray crystal structure of diphenylacetylenebis(phenylacetylide)phenylimidobis(trimethylphosphine)tungsten(VI)[W(σ-C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)2(NPh)(η2-PhC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(PMe3)2]

Abstract

Reaction of [WCl2(NPh)(PhC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(PMe3)2] with PhC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CLi yields [WCl(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(NPh)(PhC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(PMe3)2] and [W(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)2(NPh)(PhC[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh)(PMe3)2]; the structure of the latter complex, established by X-ray crystallography, confirms the simultaneous σ- and πbonding of the acetylenes in the presence of the phenylimido ligand.
