Mono- and bis-thiolato, mixed thiolato–monoalkylamido, and thiolato–alkoxy complexes of nitrosyl[tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl)borato]molybdenum, and the crystal and molecular structure of [Mo{HB(3,5-Me2C3N2H)3}(NO)I(SC6H11)]

Abstract

[Mo{HB(Me2pz)3}(NO)I2](Me2pz = 3,5-dimethylpyrazolyl) reacted with NaSEt or RSH giving [Mo{HB(Me2pz)3}(NO)I(SR)](R = Et, Bun, C6H11, C16H33, CH2Ph, Ph, and C6H4Me-p) and with AgO2CMe and RSH giving [Mo{HB(Me2pz)3}(NO)(SR)2](R = Bun or Ph). Treatment of [Mo{HB(Me2pz)3}(NO)I(SR)] with NHR′ gave [Mo{HB(Me2pz)3}(NO)(SR)(NHR′)](R = Bun or Ph, R′= Me, Et, Prn, or Bun) and treatment with AgO2CMe followed by R′OH gave [Mo{HB(Me2pz)3}(NO)(SR)(OR′)](R = Bun or Ph, R′= Me or Et). A brief comparison is made of the NO stretching frequencies of the series [Mo{HB(Me2pz)3}(NO)XY](X = I, Y = OR, NHR, and SR; X = OR, Y = NHR and SR; X = SR, Y = NHR; X = Y = OR and SR), and the crystal and molecular structure of [Mo{HB(Me2pz)3}(NO)I(SC6H11)] has been determined by X-ray analysis.
