Automated thermometric analysis for the measurement of substances in high concentration

Abstract

A technique has recently been described by the authors for the automated thermometric analysis of solutions of medium to high concentrations of analyte, using a novel micro-scale flow cell with vigorous mechanical stirring. With this technique, fully automated analysis involving precipitation reactions is possible, using enthalpimetric principles. Coefficients of variation are better than ±1·0 per cent.

In this paper, experiments are described that were carried out in order to define the limitations of this system, and the reasons for the improved performance compared with the many other types of thermometric analysers proposed in recent years are discussed.
