Solid-state studies. Part IV. The vibrational spectra of cis-di-ethylenetriaminetricarbonyl-chromium, -molybdenum, and -tungsten, of 1,2,3-, 1,2,4,5-, and 1,3,5-methylbenzenetricarbonylchromium, and cyclopentadienyltricarbonylmanganese

Abstract

The i.r. and Raman spectra of the title compounds have been studied in the 2000 cm–1 region. In all cases factor-group splitting is observed and the correlation between this and the crystal structure of the compounds is considered. The spectra of cis-diethylenetriaminetricarbonylmolybdenum is discussed in detail and two alternative methods of analysis presented. The compound 1,2,3-trimethylbenzenetricarbonylchromium undergoes polymorphic changes when a KBr disc of the compound is prepared.
