Studies in the thermochemistry of sulphones. Part 10.—Heats of combustion and formation of several αβ-unsaturated sulphones

Abstract

The heats of combustion, and the standard and gas-phase heats of formation of the following αβ-unsaturated sulphones are reported: divinyl, phenyl vinyl, p-tolyl vinyl, trans-p-tolyl β-styryl, cis-p-tolyl β-styryl, trans-phenyl, trans-propenyl, p-tolyl, p-tolyl isopropenyl, but-1-enyl p-tolyl, p-tolyl isobutenyl, and thiete sulphones. The heats of atomization have been derived. The lack of transmission of conjugation via the sulphone group is discussed.
