Studies in the thermochemistry of sulphones. Part 11.—Heats of combustion and formation of several βγ- and γδ-unsaturated sulphones

Abstract

The gas-phase heats of formation of the following unsaturated sulphones are reported: p-tolyl allyl, but-2-enyl p-tolyl, but-3-enyl p-tolyl and 2-methyl prop-2-enyl p-tolyl sulphones. The above have been evaluated via their heats of combustion, fusion and vaporization. The heats of atomization have been derived and compared with those calculated using a previously reported bond-energy scheme. Heats of isomerization of αβ- to βγ- and γδ-unsaturated sulphones are also reported.
