Synthesis and magnetic properties of bishydroxobenzoatoethylenediamineiron(III)

Abstract

The reaction of ethylenediamine with [Fe3O(C6H5CO2)6](C6H5CO2), H2O in ethanol produces the new complex [Fe en(OH)2(C6H5CO2)] whose unusual magnetic properties can be explained in terms of a 6A1gā‡Œ2T2g spin state equilibrium rather than intramolecular antiferromagnetism.
