Reactivity of Mannich bases. Part XI. Mechanism of the reaction of thiophenols with nuclear-substituted β-morpholinopropiophenones and with some related quaternary iodides

Abstract

Kinetic data are presented for reactions of (a) toluene-p-thiol with a series of nuclear-substituted β-morpholinopropiophenones and (b) thiols with the methiodides of β-piperidino- or β-dimethyl-amino-propiophenone. The resulting replacement is believed to proceed by an elimination–addition reaction.
