Chemistry of the metal carbonyls. Part XLII. Reactions between carbonylmetal anions and perfluoropyridine, perfluoropyridazine, or cyanuric fluoride

Abstract

Treatment of perfluoropyridine, perfluoropyridazine, or cyanuric fluoride with certain carbonylmetal anions affords organometallic complexes wherein NC5F4, N2C4F3, and N3C3F2 heterocyclic rings are σ-bonded to transition metals. The three nitrogen heterocycles are more reactive than hexafluorobenzene towards carbonylmetal anions so that the relatively week nucleophiles [Mn(CO)5] and [π-C5H5Mo(CO)3] give complexes. The 19F n.m.r. spectra of the compounds are described, as are certain other properties.
