Cotranslational protein folding is a vectorial process, and for membrane proteins, N-terminal helical segments are the first that become available for membrane insertion. Here fragments corresponding to these segments are investigated by NMR.

Synthesis of 3-aryl-1H-indazoles via iridium-catalysed C–H borylation and Suzuki–Miyaura coupling

The regioselective iridium-catalysed C3-borylation of 1H-indazoles has been achieved. Subsequent Suzuki–Miyaura coupling of the boronate esters with aryl chlorides, bromides and iodides affords 3-aryl-1H-indazoles in good yields.

The simple and inexpensive N,N-dimethylcyclohexane-1,2-diamine/CuI catalytic system provides a versatile, easy and efficient access to an array of N-(2-pyridin-2-yl)-amides from 2-chloro-pyridine derivatives.

Synthesis of 2-substituted quinazolines via iridium catalysis

An iridium-catalysed hydrogen transfer reaction was successfully applied in the synthesis of 2-substituted quinazolines in moderate yields starting from aldehydes or alcohols with 2-aminobenzylamines.

Automated glycan assembly of Streptococcus pneumoniae type 14 capsular polysaccharide fragments

A streamlined automated synthesis for S. pneumoniae type 14 and Group B Streptococcus type III capsular oligosaccharides with only one set of three building blocks is presented. Competitive ELISA provides some insight into minimal epitope.

A strained alkyne-containing bipyridine reagent; synthesis, reactivity and fluorescence properties

A bipyridyl reagent containing a strained alkyne 7, reacts with benzyl azide to give a significantly more flexible product 10 and an increase in fluorescence is observed. Upon addition of Zn(II), the fluorescence is enhanced further.

The biocatalytic asymmetric Michael addition of L-arginine to fumarate using argininosuccinate lyase (ASL) has enabled the synthesis of the key metabolite L-argininosuccinic acid lithium salt 1 for the first time, with excellent yield and purity.

We report the gas-phase hydrogenolysis of glycerol to 1,3-propanediol over Pt/WO3/Al2O3 in a fluidized bed operating above 240 °C and at ambient pressure.

Looking back over the last 10 years, we would like to showcase some of the very best articles that have been published in RSC Advances.
