Synthesis and electrochemical application of two-dimensional manganese-based materials
Abstract
Two-dimensional (2D) nanomaterials have emerged as a focal point in both scientific research and technological applications due to their unique physical, chemical, and electrochemical properties. This review focuses on the synthesis and electrochemical application of two-dimensional manganese-based materials. Manganese-based materials, along with their composites, have garnered widespread research interest owing to their notable characteristics such as low cost, high surface area-to-volume ratio, wide electrochemical potential window, high theoretical capacity, and rich redox states. 2D nanostructured manganese-based materials possess abundant exposed active sites and enhanced interaction with electrolytes, thereby offering considerable advantages in electrochemical energy storage and catalysis. This review provides an overview of the preparation methods and applications, mechanisms, challenges, and prospects of 2D nanostructured manganese-based materials (e.g., manganese sulfides, manganese oxides) in the realm of electrochemistry. Future research on 2D manganese-based materials is anticipated to focus on structural design and performance optimization, expansion of application domains, intelligent design and material discovery, as well as sustainable development and environmental friendliness. These endeavors are poised to contribute novel insights and solutions to propel the advancement of electrochemistry and address energy and environmental challenges.
