Spectral characteristics of a Nd3+/Yb3+:YPO4 single crystal with strong multi-wavelength emission

Abstract

We report the growth and spectral characteristics of the 0.32 at%Nd3+/1.2 at%Yb3+:YPO4 crystal. Based on AlGaAs LD pumping, the emission of Yb3+ and Nd3+ ions was successfully achieved simultaneously with strong multi-wavelength emission. The potential THz radiation covering 17–21 THz may be generated through difference frequency interactions theoretically.
