2D–2D hybrids have large heterointerfaces and strong interactions between the two components, leading to strong coupling effects that influence the electronic structure of active sites and benefit charge transfer during energy conversion reactions.

Post-synthetic modulation of UiO-66-NH2 with a cobaloxime catalyst for efficient hydrogen production

Post synthetically-modified UiO-66-NH2 with a molecular cobaloxime [Co(DMG)2Cl2] (DMG = dimethylglyoxime) catalyst displays excellent photo-(404 μmol g−1 h−1) and electrocatalytic H2 evolution activity in an aqueous solution.

Interfacing NiV layered double hydroxide with sulphur-doped g-C3N4 as a novel electrocatalyst for enhanced hydrogen evolution reaction through Volmer–Heyrovský mechanism

The poor intrinsic catalytic activity of g-C3N4 towards electrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was overcome by sulphur doping and NiV LDH compositing. A comprehensive account of enhanced HER through the Volmer–Heyrovský mechanism is provided.

Nano-interfacial interactions in 2-D Ni3S2–Ni3N nanosheets for the hydrogen evolution reaction in an alkaline medium

Herein, a heterostructure of Ni3S2–Ni3N was prepared by a three-step synthesis procedure that consists of the formation of Ni3S2 on NF, the electrodeposition of Ni(OH)2 over Ni3S2 and nitridation in the presence of ammonia.

Synergistic photo-enhanced electrocatalysis of Pt–ZnO–Bi2O3 heterojunction for methanol oxidation under visible light illumination

Single-step in situ synthesis of MoO2-faceted structures as highly efficient HER electrocatalysts and electrode materials for pseudocapacitors

The in situ developed intermediate MoO2-layered structures exhibited superior performance towards HER activity. The faceted and stacked MoO2 structures are potential candidates as electrode materials for pseudocapacitors.
