In situ TEM study of lithiation into a PPy coated α-MnO2/graphene foam freestanding electrode

Even with the many desirable properties, natural abundance and low cost of α-MnO2, its application as an anode in lithium-ion batteries has been limited because of its low intrinsic electrical conductivity and large volume expansion occurring during charge/discharge cycles.

About this collection

Owning to its exceptional structural, electronic and mechanical properties, graphene and its derivatives are found ideal materials for many electrochemical energy storage devices, including aluminium-graphene battery, Li-S battery, Na ion battery, other promising batteries and supercapacitors, etc. Aim of this themed collection is to highlight some of the very recent efforts in the assembly and characterization of graphene macrostructures, such as graphene fibres, graphene papers, graphene aerogels/frameworks etc., devices development based on those graphene materials and the exploration of their applications in energy generation and storage.

Guest Editors are Chao Gao (Zhejiang University) and Jiaxing Huang (Northwestern University).

More articles will be added to the collection as soon as they are published.
