Preparation of Mg, Ca, or Sr-included mesoporous silica from glass bottle waste for recovery of rare earth metal elements

This paper suggests new uses for colored waste bottle glass. Silica was hydrothermally extracted and the mesoporous silica including alkali-earth metal elements was synthesized which have great ion exchangeability for rare earth metal cations.

About this collection

Functional materials such as energy and environmental materials, biomaterials, as well as gypsum, lime and cement materials, are experiencing remarkable growth in research interest.

The International Symposium on Inorganic  Environmental  Materials 2023 (ISIEM 2023, https://isiem2023.sciencesconf.org), was the 4th symposium after Eindhoven (Netherlands, 2004), Rennes (France, 2013) and Ghent (Belgium). To-date, the symposium has supported the growth of this research field by providing an international forum for the discussion of cutting-edge results.

We hope that ISIEM 2023 has helped to broaden knowledge and generate new interdisciplinary proposals through active discussions among the participants. To celebrate the success of ISIEM 2023 and as a source of further information exchange, we have put together this collection of research by presenters at ISIEM 2023.
