A hexaallyl[60]fullerene, C60(CH2CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CH2)6

Abstract

C60Cl6 Reacts with allyltrimethylsilane in the presence of TiCl4 to form a Cs symmetrical, hexaallyl addended [60]fullerene derivative, C60(CH2CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CH2)6, in 58% yield; C60(CH2CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CH2)5Cl is separated as a minor reaction product in 14% yield.
