A plasma spray modulating porous NiAl coating on nickel mesh for hydrogen and oxygen evolution

Abstract

In this study, a porous NiAl coated nickel mesh electrode (EPS-NA) was designed by plasma spraying and alkaline etching. The sprayed ratio of Ni and Al plays a vital role in obtaining a superior and stable performance in both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The in situ formed NiO phase was observed in the coating and significantly accelerated the HER activity, compared to nickel mesh.
