Molecularly engineered thienyl-triphenylamine substituted zinc phthalocyanine as dopant free hole transporting materials in perovskite solar cells

Abstract

To ensure the success of perovskite solar cells (PSCs), developing dopant-free hole transporting materials is of paramount importance to induce long-term stability. Phthalocyanines have emerged as a viable alternative to the common Spiro-OMeTAD, due to their excellent optoelectrical properties and chemical stability. We report the design and semiconducting properties of a thienyl-triphenylamine tetrasubstituted zinc(II) phthalocyanine, and its application in PSCs. The PSCs fabricated with zinc phthalocyanine without the use of any dopant and additives gave a competitive power conversion efficiency in excess of 14.5%, along with long-term stability.
