Sustained release of Ag+ confined inside polyoxometalates for long-lasting bacterial resistance

Abstract

Polyoxometalate with Ag+ hosted, [AgP5W30O110]14-, is studied for its sustained and controlled release of Ag+ triggered by Na+ replacement at room temperature for long-lasting bacteriostasis action, whose antibacterial activity is not eliminated in the repeated exposure tests because of the protection of Ag+ by the polyoxometalate skeletons.
