Preparation, magnetic properties and crystal structure of bis[3-(4-pyridyl)pentane-2,4-dionato]copper(II)

Abstract

The crystal structure of [CuL 2 ]·2.5H 2 O·0.5thf [L = 3-(4-pyridyl)pentane-2,4-dionate; thf = tetrahydrofuran] has been solved; a small intermolecular antiferromagnetic interaction between Cu sites implies that L would be useful in synthesising heterobimetallic and polymeric species with interesting magnetic properties.
