Luminescent complexes containing a gold(I) chromophore with covalently-linked anthracene or pyridinium acceptors

Abstract

A series of covalently-linked ‘chromophore–quencher’ compounds which contain the Au(C[triple bond, length half m-dash]CPh) chromophore linked to pyridinium and quaternary ammonium acceptors or anthracene by flexible tethers have been synthesized and subjected to photophysical study in solution; the crystal structure of the anthracene complex has been determined.
