Ab initio structure solution of a novel aluminium methylphosphonate from laboratory X-ray powder diffraction data

Abstract

A novel aluminium methylphosphonate, with unit cell composition [Al(OH)PO3Me·H2O]4, has been prepared hydrothermally; the structure consists of parallel chains of aluminium–oxygen octahedra linked via bridging oxygens and methylphosphonate groups to give inorganic sheets partially covered on both surfaces by methyl groups.
