Palladium-mediated cross-coupling reactions of [(bpy)2Ru(3-bromo-1,10-phenanthroline)]2+(PF6–)2 with various aromatic acetylenes and of [(bpy)2Ru(3-ethynyl-1,10-phenanthroline)]2+(PF6–)2 with aromatic iodides give mono-, di- and tri-nuclear complexes in high yields and under mild conditions.
