Atypical carbon–carbon bond scission and deoxygenation in the protonation of tungsten-η1-oxabicyclic compounds
Abstract
Treatment of tungsten-η1-7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1]heptadiene and -η1-7-oxabicyclo[2.2.1] heptene with CF3SO3H leads to atypical carbon–carbon bond scission and deoxygenation; the reaction intermediates in the bond scission involves a tungsten-η1-2-hydrofurylium cation.
