Cleavage of both alkyl C–H bonds and aryl C–F bonds and concomitant C–C bond formation in a pentamethylcyclopentadienylrhodium phosphine complex: X-ray structure of [η5-C5Me3[CH2C6F4P(C6F5)CH2]2-1,3}RhCl]+BF4

Abstract

The reaction between bis(dipentafluorophenylphosphino)ethane, dfppe, and [{(η5-C5Me5)RhCl(µ-Cl)}2] proceeds with cleavage of two C–F bonds and two C–H bonds and formation of two C–C bonds to yield the ionic complex 1a.
