Reduction of resazurin by glutathione activated by sulfanes and selenite
Abstract
Reduction of resazurin by glutahione is efficiently promoted by sulfanes (RSSSR and tetrathionate) or by traces of selenite: the effect can be explained by formation and redox cycling of persulfide (GSSH) and selenopersulfide (GSSeH), which appear to be significantly better reductants (antioxidants) than GSH.
