Enantioselective alkylating reagents; crystal structure of [Ru{η5C5H4(C10H19)}(dppe)(IEt)]CF3SO3[dppe = PPh2CH2CH2PPh2, C10H19=(+)-neomenthyl]
Abstract
The complex [Ru{η5-C5H4(C10H19)}(dppe)I]1[dppe = PPh2CH2CH2PPh2, C10H19=(+)-neomenthyl] reacts with CF3SO3R (R = Me or Et) to give the corresponding alkyl iodide complexes [Ru{η5-C5H4(C10H19)}(dppe)(IR)]CF3SO3(R = Me 2a or Et 2b) which alkylate a range of prochiral nucleophiles (e.e. ⩽20%) to regenerate 1; the crystal structure of 2b is reported.
