Dalton communications. The ‘broken cube’ polymer structure of (LiBr·thf)(thf = tetrahydrofuran)

Abstract

The reaction of GeBr4 with 2 equivalents of Li2[C10H7N](C10H7N = 1-naphthylamido dianion) in tetrahydrofuran (thf)–diethyl ether produces (LiBr·thf) as a product, which has an infinite ‘corrugated’ ladder structure in the solid state and can be regarded as arising from the association of cubes of (LiBr·thf)4.
