Synthesis and characterisation of nona-osmium carbonyl clusters; crystal and molecular structure of [(Ph3P)2N][Os9H(CO)24]

Abstract

The anion [Os9H(CO)24], 2 has been isolated in moderate yield by the vacuum pyrolysis of [Os3(CO)10(NCMe)2], and has been shown by a single crystal X-ray structure analysis to contain the previously unobserved tricapped octahedral Os9 metal core.
