Unusual dehydrogenation of a diethylenetriamine ligand to a Schiff base ligand in the co-ordination sphere of platinum(IV)
Abstract
Trans,mer-[(OH)2(dien)Pt(N-3-1 mec)](ClO4)2, (2), (dien = diethylenetriamine, C4H13N3; 1 mec = 1-methylcytosine, C5H7N3O) is, on warming in H2O, pH ca. 2–6, converted to several products, including the corresponding sym-fac, cis-isomer (4) and a PtII compound [(C4H11N3)Pt(N-3-1 mec)](ClO4)2, (3), which contains the tridentate Schiff base ligand NH2–CH2–CHN–CH2–CH2–NH2.
