Stereochemistry of the decarboxylation reaction catalysed by 3-isopropylmalate dehydrogenase from the thermophilic bacterium Thermus thermophilus

Abstract

The decarboxylation reaction catalysed by threo-Ds-3-isopropylmalate dehydrogenase from the thermophile Thermus thermophilus HB-8 has been firmly established to proceed with retention of configuration at the C-3 position of (2R,3S)-isopropymalic acid.
