Synthesis, characterization, and properties of the pentamethylcyclopentadienyltetra-carbonylmetallates(0) of titanium and zirconium. Anionic and carbocyclic derivatives of zerovalent group 4 carbonyls, (C5Me5)M(CO)4

Abstract

Reductive carbonylations at atmospheric pressure of (C5Me5)MCl3(M = Ti and Zr), conducted at low temperature, provide thermally robust and crystalline products of the general formula [Et4N][(C5Me5)M(CO)4], which contain the first examples of carbonyl anions of titanium and zirconium.
