CR (R = Me, Ph) to afford the organo-cluster [Os6(CO)20{C![[double bond, length as m-dash]](https://www.rsc.org/images/entities/char_e001.gif) C(H)R}], which, on standing, loses the elements of an Os(CO)5 fragment to give the pentanuclear cluster [Os5(CO)15{C
C(H)R}], which, on standing, loses the elements of an Os(CO)5 fragment to give the pentanuclear cluster [Os5(CO)15{C![[double bond, length as m-dash]](https://www.rsc.org/images/entities/char_e001.gif) C(H)R}]; the structures of the phenyl derivatives of these hexa- and penta-nuclear clusters have been established by X-ray analysis.
