Substituent control of periselectivity: application to the synthesis of (±)-muscone

Abstract

The thermal, [1,3]-shift siloxy-Cope, ring expansion in shown to be highly favoured relative to the [3,3]-shift for the large-ring system required for the synthesis of muscone.
