Synthesis and crystal structure of the η2–bonded CSe2 complex [(triphos )RhCl(η2–CSe2)]·C6H6triphos =(Ph2PCH2)3CMe]. Metal-promoted head-to-head dimerization of CSe2 to C2Se4

Abstract

The reaction of CS2with [RhCl(C2H4)2]2 and triphos [triphos =(Ph2PCH2)3CMe] give [(triphos)RhCl(η2CSe2)]·C6H6,X-ray analysis of which shows that CSe2 is η2–bonded via C and Se; the action of Lewis acids on this η2–CSe2Compound leads to the unpuecedented ethenetetraselenolat-bridged complexes [(triphos)Rh(µ-C2Se4)Rh(triphos)]Y2(Y[double bond, length half m-dash]Cl, BF4,PF6,or BPh4).
