CHF(X1A′) radical kinetics. Part 1.—Reaction with NO and O2

Abstract

Ground-state CHF radicals, formed in the gas phase by infrared multiple photon dissociation, and detected by laser-induced fluorescence, react with NO and O2 with bimolecular rate constants of (7.0 ± 0.4)× 10–12 and <5 × 10–16 cm3 molecule–1 s–1, respectively, at 295 K. NCO (X2Πi) is detected as an important product of the CHF + NO reaction, and is formed at the same rate as that of CHF removal. The zero-pressure lifetime of the first excited state of NCO, Ã2Σ+(000) was measured to be 350 ± 30 ns.
